Privacy Notice

We do not sell or disclose your personal information. First Class Education LLC, doing business as Notary Course IL, does not sell, rent, or disclose any information you give us. The only exceptions are the service providers that run our website, course, and payments, and cases where the law requires it. We do not use any identity verification vendor.

What we collect

Waitlist sign-ups: your name and email address, used only to tell you when enrollment opens.
Account and contact details (once enrolled): your name, email address, and any phone number you give us.
Identity verification: an image of your government-issued photo ID, a photo of you holding it, your full legal name, and your answers to five security questions. Illinois requires approved course providers to verify each student's identity.
Course records: instruction time, module progress, identity-check results with dates and times, exam attempts and scores, and certificates issued.
Payment: card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.

We never ask for your Social Security number.

How we use it

We use your information only to deliver the course, to verify your identity as Illinois rules require, to issue your certificates, to answer your support requests, to tell waitlist members when enrollment opens, and to keep the records the Illinois Secretary of State may review.

Who can see it

Our staff: only staff who need it to run the course and verify identity.
Our service providers: our website host (Netlify), course platform (LearnWorlds), and payment processor (Stripe). They handle your information only so we can operate the site, deliver the course, and take payment.
The Illinois Secretary of State, on request, as part of its oversight of notary course providers.
Anyone else: only if the law requires it, such as a court order.

How we protect it

We store your information on secure systems, with access limited to people who need it for business. If we discover unauthorized access to your information, we will report it immediately to the Illinois Secretary of State and notify you as required by the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act (815 ILCS 530).

How long we keep it

We keep student records, including identity verification and exam results, for at least 5 years, then securely delete them. Waitlist sign-ups are deleted when you ask us to remove you, or after the course launches if you don't enroll.
